Configuring the "Fumble Free Eraser" has been simplified in Painter 4.0/5.0. Painter 4.0/5.0 also has the ability to select ANY tool in place of the eraser, making it easy to switch back and forth between any two tools.
Selecting a Second Tool (Eraser)
-----------------------------
While pressing the "Eraser" button, use the pen to select a drawing tool from the "Brushes" window in Painter 4.0/5.0. When the "Eraser" button on the pen is released, Painter 4.0/5.0 switches back to the previously selected drawing tool. When the "Eraser" button is pressed again, Painter 4./5.00 will automatically switch to the drawing tool you selected, and revert when the "Eraser" button is released.
The default "Eraser" button is button number 2 (the one closest to the top of the pen). This button is selected in the TabletWorks Control Panel.
User Notes
----------
Note: Painter™ 4.0 loses whatever tool was selected as the "eraser" tool when the application quits. The "eraser" tool will have to be reselected each time the application is launched. Painter™ version 4.0.3 or later does not have this problem.
Note: When using Fractal Design's (now MetaCreations) Painter™, Dabbler™, Art Dabbler™, or Detailer™, the tablet should be placed into tablet (or absolute) mode. It is not recommended to user any of these applications in mouse (or relative) mode.
